Concrete is now being poured as part of the ongoing construction of an access road to Long Laput in Baram.

The reinforced concrete road pavement is part of new upgrades to the existing 4.9km earth road that serves the local Kayan community.

Works on surface drainages have also begun, where installed reinforced concrete pipe culverts will divert excess rainwater.

The improved road will provide better mobility and road access to key public social services such as clinics and schools, according to the project scope benefits.

In the long term, the improved road will enhance social and economic development.

The project, implemented by the Highland Development Agency (HDA), is expected to be completed by year’s end.

Until then, existing road will be repaired and maintained for use by local residents.
