The current access road to Long Tikan / Long Jekitan in Upper Baram, in the Miri division, will be upgraded in an infrastructure project implemented by the Highland Development Agency (HDA), under RECODA.
The access road will be upgraded to a 9.7km gravel road of R1 Modified Standard with drainage structures and road fixtures. The road will also connect to the existing Sungai Tikan bridge.
In terms of compensation for affected residents, crop counting works have been completed with land acquisition works to be carried out by the Miri Land & Survey Department. Earthworks and environmental works for the road are also underway.
Construction workers have been instructed adhere to the SOP set by health authorities, especially during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period. The project, which began late last year, is expected to be completed by 2022.
