The last leg of the outstanding ‘Sejiwa Senada’ 2016 programme was held at Metro City, Jalan Matang just outside Kuching and attracted a massive crowd of 50,000 people from different backgrounds.
The “Sejiwa, Senada” carnival, held over four months and at nine locations across the length and breadth of the State of Sarawak attracted more than 1 million visitors and was an unprecedented success.
The carnival’s committee advisor Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg was pleased with the carnival and said that ‘Sejiwa Senada’ had given members of the public in many areas the opportunity to interact with members of the civil service and learn more about the Sarawak civil service’s transformation programme so far as it develops a citizen focussed Key Performance Index (KPI).
Based on his numerous discussions with citizens in different locations, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg was convinced that ‘Sejiwa Senada’ had improved perceptions of the civil service and created a positive impact with the community.
Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem attended the closing ceremony and as soon as he arrived went straight on the stage and launched into his trademark version of the “The Young Ones”, much to pleasure of the enormous crowd.
Tan Sri Adenan drew a huge round of applause and a massive cheer when he followed “The Young Ones” with his version of Tan Sri P. Ramlee’s iconic ballad “Getaran Jiwa” getting the crowd to join in as they proudly waved the State flag.
Present during the event were members of the state Cabinet and Tan Sri Adenan’s wife, Puan Sri Jamilah Anu.
