BINTULU, June 11: A vaccination centre (PPV) for industry is set to be opened at Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhd, an aluminium smelting plant here to handle Covid-19 vaccines rollout especially for workers of industries operating in the Samalaju Industrial area.
Bintulu Division Health officer Dr Melvin Chung pointed out that the industry PPV targets to inoculate about 6,000 workers of Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhd as part of the efforts to accelerate the process of vaccination in Sarawak.
“We have proposed for the opening on this coming weekend but we are still waiting for the decision from Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) Sarawak to determine a date for the operation of this industry PPV,” he told Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) when met during his visit to the PPV yesterday.

Dr Chung explained that the industry PPV operation will be fully handled by Protect Health Corporation (PHC) in which the manpower will consist of panel doctors of the industry companies involved.
“The Bintulu Division Health Office will assist in monitoring in terms of reporting and resolving issues related to vaccination when necessary,” he said.
This industry PPV initiative, he emphasised demonstrated that the companies involved were keen to be part of the State Covi-19 Immunisation Programme.
Dr Chung added that another industry PPV will be activated in Bintulu Division at the Dinner World Bintulu to increase the number of PPVs to four including at UPMKB, Tatau Sports Hall and Sebauh Community Hall.
