The Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) today engaged the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (PETROS) to further strengthen the relationship between all parties towards achieving the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) development objectives.
RECODA today was briefed on the latest developments on mega projects undertaken by PETROS, SEDC and state-owned unit Sarawak Petchem Sdn Bhd within the SCORE region.
During a sharing session with PETROS Group CEO Datuk Sauu Kakok, RECODA CEO Datu Ismawi Ismuni conveyed the need for gas supply to growth nodes such as the Samalaju Industrial Park to serve the requirements of current and potential investors.
Ismawi added that RECODA can assist PETROS in terms of human capital development requirements by facilitating upskilling and training programmes for oil & gas workers.
In a separate meeting later, Ismawi was briefed by SEDC General Manager Abdul Hadi Datuk Abdul Kadir and Sarawak Petchem Deputy Project Director Hussein B. Putit on the latest updates on the Sarawak Petrochemical Hub and the Sarawak Methanol Plant Project in Tanjung Kidurong.
Site preparation for the 1,000 acre Sarawak Petrochemical Hub, located 15km from Bintulu town, is currently ongoing, as are engagements with potential investors in oil & gas downstream activities.
The Sarawak Methanol Plant Project, located adjacent to the hub, will produce 5,000 tonnes of gas per annum as feedstock to industries when ongoing construction is completed.
In addition to implementing key socio-economic and infrastructure projects in the SCORE region, RECODA is also tasked with ensuring that major investment interest in SCORE continues to be promoted and facilitated and that job opportunities are created for Sarawakians.
