The Study Visit continues today with an enlightening experience at the Eco Yap Farm in Keningau, Sabah! Our first stop was their pineapple farm, where they grow the Keningau Diamond variant, followed by a tour of their beef and dairy cow farms.
The participants gained valuable insights into the farm’s sustainable practices, particularly the cyclic nature of livestock rearing—rainwater and grass feed the cows, and cow manure fertilizes the grass, creating a natural loop of sustainability that also alleviates some financial burdens for livestock rearers and disincentivizes outsourcing for foreign feed.
At their farm-to-table restaurant, we learned about the importance of locally sourced produce, as the restaurant served fresh beef and milk from their own farm alongside fish from their fisheries.
NRDA remains committed to exploring sustainable agricultural practices to uplift local industries and empower communities. Stay tuned for more updates!
