Conference on Industrial By-Products Management and Business Opportunities
The Industrial By-Products Management and Business Opportunities Conference was held from 20-21 June 2016 at The Borneo Convention Centre, Kuching (BCCK).
The 2-day conference was a collaboration between the State Planning Unit of the Chief Minister’s Department and the ferroalloy industry players operating in Samalaju Industrial Park.
The motivation for the event came about because the organizers believe that because of the rapid growth of new industries in Samalaju in recent years, a conference was needed to build awareness of the management and business opportunities of industrial by-products related to developments in the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
As part of the conference program, participants had the opportunity to visit Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) and see the impressive progress and enormous potential of SCORE.
Speakers at the conference came from Germany, United Kingdom, France, Norway, Japan, Republic of Korea as well as Malaysia. The speakers delivered presentations on the current issues and latest trends in industrial by-product management.
Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot, CEO of RECODA presented a paper entitled “SCORE Perspective – Infrastructure Development” and RECODA also participated as an exhibitor at the conference.
The 2-day conference attracted more than 200 participants from institutions of higher learning as well as the private and public sectors.
