Clearing the Path: Demolition Paves Way for New Bandar Lawas Bridge
The final hurdle to the construction of the highly anticipated New Bandar Lawas Bridge was overcome today with the demolition of the remaining structure that had been impeding progress. On hand to witness this momentous occasion were the homeowner himself, Encik Ramli, along with the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA) Regional Director Datu Haji Ubaidillah Abdul Latip, representatives from the project consultant HAPM Consultants Sdn Bhd Independent Checking Engineer (ICE) and the project contractor PPK Sdn Bhd.
With the road now clear, PPK Sdn Bhd has reaffirmed their dedication and pledged to expedite the project’s progress. The RM149 million bridge, having reached 16% completion, is now expected to be finished by 2026. This marks not only a significant milestone for the initiative but also a turning point for the Lawas community, as it will vastly improve connectivity and economic opportunities for the Northern Region of Sarawak.
