Chief Minister announces huge news for RECODA at Kapit Visit
The Right Honorable Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Abang Haji Openg brought great news to the people of Kapit and Upper Rajang during his visit with news regarding the formation of the Upper Rajang Development Authority (URDA).
RECODA was invited to participate in a small exhibition at Kapit in conjunction with the Chief Minister’s first visit to Kapit as the sixth Chief Minister of Sarawak. During his visit, the Head of Government made the announcement of formation the new URDA which will be placed under RECODA.
The news, which delighted many in the region, is slated to expedite development to the area.
The Chief Minister noted that the formation of URDA is important to ensure people in the rural areas could enjoy the development implemented by the government, adding that the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing will be its Chairman and the Honorable Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi will be the Deputy Chairman.
Other members of the new agency include Deputy State Secretary Datu Haji Ismawi bin Haji Ismuni, RECODA Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot, Kapit Resident, Bintulu Resident, representative of Sarawak Energy Berhad, permanent secretary of Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture and Rural Economy and permanent secretary of Ministry of Tourism.
