The official opening ceremony of Sejiwa Senada 2016 was held in Sibu on 16th January 2016 and graced by the guest of honour, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan Bin Haji Satem, Chief Minister of Sarawak and a long line up of distinguised guests including his wife, Datin Patinggi Datuk Jamilah Anu, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly (DUN) Datuk Amar Asfia Awang Nassar, the Minister of Housing and Tourism Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg, the Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Both Ali Hasan, the Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh and the State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
The 3-day event started on 15 January 2016 and ended on 17 January 2016. An impressive total of 130,000 visitors from the central region of Sarawak visited with many of them taking part in activities including the Sejiwa Senada run, a walk-a-mile programme, a motor show, wall-climbing and e-peraduan. There were also talks and seminars for community leaders and women and youth, as well as various competitions for children and adults and ongoing entertainers on the stage.
Impressed at the large numbers, state Tourism Minister Datuk Abang Johari Tun Openg congratulated the organisers and the people of the central region for their enthusiasm for the event.
RECODA was one of the 172 state and federal government agencies reaching out to the people of Sibu with an excellent visual display that charts the progress of development to date in SCORE.
