Recently, RECODA participated in an Investment Mission to South Korea, led by YB Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), to strengthen strategic partnerships, explore investment opportunities, and enhance economic cooperation between Sarawak and South Korea.

The mission included engagements with industry leaders, investors, and key stakeholders in the semiconductor and advanced manufacturing sectors, including OCI Holdings Ltd., OCI Corporation, and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA), alongside networking sessions with the Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) in Seoul.

Engagements with KSIA and knowledge-sharing sessions hosted by SMD Semiconductor involving Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) facilitated the exchange of industry insights, best practices, and potential collaboration opportunities to support the growth of Sarawak’s semiconductor ecosystem.
The delegation also had the opportunity to engage with Persatuan Pelajar Malaysia Korea (PPMK), and Sarawakian students in Seoul through sessions hosted by SMD Semiconductor, providing a platform to discuss talent development, industry opportunities, and the role of skilled human capital in supporting Sarawak’s future growth.

In addition, the delegation attended a dinner hosted by the Ambassador of Malaysia to South Korea, which provided an opportunity for networking and discussions on strengthening Malaysia–South Korea relations and exploring areas of mutual interest and cooperation.

Organised by MINTRED and Invest Sarawak, the mission reflects Sarawak’s commitment in strengthening international partnerships, and advancing high-value industries. RECODA’s participation reflects its ongoing role as a key enabler of investment and development in SCORE region.
