RECODA joined an online meeting hosted by the Economic Planning Unit today, which discussed the best strategies to tackle poverty nationwide. In the online meeting chaired by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, RECODA CEO Datu Ismawi Ismuni provided feedback on the best strategies to address poverty and improve the well-being of the rakyat.
The government is establishing a Poverty Circle, comprising of elected representatives, members of the private sector, civil society and academicians to reduce poverty and address inequality, particularly among the B40 and vulnerable groups that have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Also joining today’s discussion were representatives from the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), Department of Statistics Malaysia, Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA), East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) and the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), among others.
