Improvements are being carried out on Long Bedian’s internal roads and drainages, which will bring better quality of life and mobility to the settlement along Sungai Apoh in the Baram district.
According to the project’s benefits scope, the roads will also help stimulate the economic development of the riverine Kayan-majority community, which trades mostly in agricultural products and fish.
Additionally, two concrete road bridges are expected to be completed by the project’s end this year, which will ease road travel for residents.
Drainage works have been completed while road and paving works are underway. The drains will be lined with reinforced concrete to ease water levels during flooding seasons.
Meanwhile, work on the concrete bridges has just begun with micro-piling works for the abutments ongoing.
This infrastructure project is implemented by the Highland Development Agency (HDA), under RECODA.
