Donors from two dozen state agencies, GLCs and consulting firms joined RECODA in contributing to a blood donation drive on Wednesday, exceeding the collection target of 30 pints (units) of blood.
“This is RECODA’s first blood donation drive, yet you’ve managed to exceed the target,” said Dr Muhammad Noor Haziq of Sarawak General Hospital’s blood procurement unit, which collected 32 units of blood.
“It’s quite good. We hope that RECODA can do this again soon,” he added.
The Sarawak General Hospital needs about 70 units of blood every day.
Dr Muhammad Noor was accompanied by about a dozen nurses and other medical staff. Volunteers donated their blood within about 15 minutes but were told to rest and avoid exerting themselves today.
Volunteers are advised to only donate once every three months.
