IDECS 2024 kicked off with a welcoming address from The Honourable Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Bin Marzuki, State Secretary of Sarawak and Chairman of the conference Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Bin Marzuki, Setiausaha Kerajaan Sarawak . His remarks emphasised Sarawak’s vision to emerge as a leader in the digital economy by leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to tackle global challenges while promoting sustainable practices.

The Right Honourable Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Abang Haji Openg, delivered an insightful keynote on “AI for Sustainable Development,” emphasising how AI and innovation can drive sustainability across both environmental and economic spheres. The Premier also launched two significant initiatives: the Sarawak Digital Residency Program and the Sarawak Technology and Innovation Sandbox, both designed to foster innovation and digital transformation.

By enhancing connectivity and laying the groundwork for AI-driven technologies, this infrastructure will enable smart digital innovations that contribute to sustainable development.
