Groundbreaking Ceremony For HU-CHEMS’ Malaysia Project
On 29th July 2015, the earth breaking ceremony of HU-CHEMS Fine Chemical Corp’s manufacturing plant was officiated by Sarawak Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Adenan Satem, and Chairman of HU-CHEMS, Mr Park Yeon Cha.
Also present at the earth breaking ceremony were the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Malaysia, His Excellency Mr Cho Byungjae; Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Dato’ Azman Mahmud; Sarawak State Secretary, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani; and State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Datuk Amar Haji Mohd Asfia Awang Nasar.
HU-CHEMS Fine Chemical Corp’s decision to invest in Sarawak was an important step in developing high-value downstream products for the oil and gas industry such as specialised and fine chemicals. The downstream development oil and gas has been identified as one of the ten (10) priority industries in Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
HU-CHEMS will be building a facility that can produce up to 600,000 tons of ammonia, 400,000 tons of nitric acid, and 200,000 tons of ammonium nitrate by investing around 1 trillion won in the 33,578 square meter complex.
The firm is scheduled to select a contractor for the plant by the first half of next year, complete the construction by 2018, and start producing chemicals in the first half of 2019.
